COURSE SUMMARY - to be taught at Langara College, Vancouver, BC

This intensive, modular course will provide a thorough introduction to concepts of wholistic approaches in transformational healing that address the whole person: body, emotions, mind, relationships (with other people and the environment) and spirit. The course will include experiential components and participants are expected to be ready to learn and practice these for themselves as part of the course process. There will be reading and paper assignments. Some assignments will include small group on-line peer discussions and critiques, as preparation for peer supervision in followup to this course.

This course will be offered in 10 x 2-day modules. Classroom time will be 14 hours each 2-day session.

The first module is concurrently the WHEE Level 1 Certificate Workshop, and may be taken as a stand-alone workshop.

Sun. Oct 31 – Mon Nov 1, 2010 – WHEE Level 1 Certificate Workshop - 14 hours

Mon. Jan. 24 - Sat. Jan. 29, 2011- 42 hours (Cluster A: Modules #2-4)
Mon. Apr. 11 – Sat. Apr. 16, 2011- 42 hours (Cluster B: Modules #5-7)
Mon. Sep. 26 – Sat. Oct. 1, 2011 – 42 hours  (Cluster C: Modules #8-10)

A 2-hour teleseminar will be scheduled monthly (on the weekday best suited to participants' schedules), to review and discuss readings and casework generated/ informed/ inspired by materials in each module. You will need to have access to the US phone number for the teleseminar 'hub' phone number.

A Certificate for the entire Wholistic Transformational Healing Course will be issued on successful completion of the ten modules.

A Level 1 WHEE. Certificate will also be issued for demonstrated clinical competence in the methodologies taught in the first module. The course or any module may also be taken without examination or certificate.

COURSE DETAILS

240 hours: includes class time, homework, case studies, exams, practical exams

Each module will include many experiential components. Participants in this course are expected to be willing to examine and work on their own psychological issues, using the wholistic transformational healing methods taught in this course. This course assumes that therapist work on 'clearing the vessel through which healing flows' is essential to good therapy.

There will be regular reading and written assignments, including written case studies. A book review and a case study will be required for each module. A template for case studies will be provided. Students will circulate assignments among small student subgroups and will critique each others' work. Case studies and book reviews will be due 1 week prior to the teleseminar. Late assignments will have 10 points deducted from the grade for that paper.

The class will be encouraged to work as a group on learning assignments. It is impossible for any one person to study in-depth all of the topics covered in this course. Through sharing book reports and case studies, students will have a much broader exposure to wholistic literature and methodologies. Group process will be a topic of discussion as part of the experiential learning, not as group therapy but as awareness of process.

Students will be expected to choose two new (to them) therapeutic modalities during each cluster for use in their clinical work.

An extensive reading resource list will be provided to supplement class materials. You are welcome to add to this list, in consultation with Dr. Benor.
