| A solution for global warming? |
 |
 |
Lowell Wood, a rocket scientist, is proposing that dispersing fine chemical particles into the atmosphere could rapidly and significantly cool the planet, reducing global warming.
The idea springs from the observation that following major volcanic eruptions – that spew enormous amounts of fine particles of ash into the atmosphere – there is a period of several months of global cooling.
Ironically, Wood is infamous for championing the Star Wars antimissile weapons program that wasted many billions of dollars to no good purpose.

WHEE-MD Observations
The above is the potential good news.
The potential bad news is that no one knows what would be a safe type of particle to disperse in the atmosphere around the world, on the long-term basis that would be required for slowing, stopping or even reversing global warming.
The definite bad news is that if this were successful, it would remove the threat of global warming that is a stimulus for reducing carbon dioxide pollution and fossil fuel use, and for developing sustainable and renewable sources of power.
