LETTERS

LETTERS

Let me share a few further observations on my experiences with cotton wool and other items from Newsletter No. 1, which I found interesting.. The new(ish) office technology is very good, but I find it a bit intimidating.

  1.   I am currently experimenting with paper - charging up letters to those in need.  First reports are of a tingling in the hands (as the chakras respond to the energy).  The need activates the energy flow, I think.

I get very few 'failures' with the cotton wool.  This may be because I work away from the body, 6-8 inches or so - naturally do the same with the cotton pads.

Re. Paulina Baume's observation that her healing did not work on cotton wool in polythene bags:  I personally have never had any problem healing through polythene or any other substance and this includes Faraday cages.  [Ed. note - A Faraday cage, of wire mesh, excludes most electromagnetic fields.]  I have transmitted healing to people working inside a Faraday cage (and a proven interference free environment).  This was received at the appointed time in one case and at random times in another case.  I did the second part to avoid 'suggestion'.

I've never had reports of over-dosing from cotton wool.  I suggest 20 minutes at a spell mainly to prevent 'draining' the cotton pad in one session.  If people fall asleep with it in place they usually sleep deeply, but the pad needs re-charging.  In giving healing directly I don't spend 20 minutes on a painful point.  Overall I might spend 45 minutes on a healee if they have numerous sore places, but only a shortish time on the individual sore spots.

  2.  Regarding the question of healing affecting the effects of medications, e.g. chemotherapy:  I usually ask that the body tolerate the drugs and use them to the desired end.  Most people say this helps them to cope and if they have had previous experience of chemo they say, 'This time it's easier.'  That may be due to changed medical practice, of course.

  3.  I don't heal people having radiotherapy.  They go on my prayer list.

  4.  Another interesting point in the Newsletter is the cranio rhythmic impulse.  I experience a pulsing in myself when I start to get tired.  I always have done and it "sets me up again".  I thought everyone had it until 7 years ago I was told otherwise!  It comes sometimes when I am healing, particularly if I am doing something energy intensive, then it seems the whole room shakes with it, and other "aware" people feel it.

 You did ask for comments!

It is lovely to know Dr. Jean Roberton has become a healer in addition to her doctoring skill.  Good to know, too, that doctor/healer partnerships are so successful.

I hope these comments are of interest.         Best wishes.

I was present at the Doctor-Healer Network meeting in Bath when Jon Lawrence discussed and demonstrated Cranial Osteopathy.  [See DHN Newsletter No. 1, describing the rhythms palpable over the cranium.]  I was interested to discover that certain healing experiences I have had bore a remarkable resemblance to the rhythmic movements which are a part of Cranial Osteopathic work.

Case History 1:  A woman with jaw problems following dental surgery came to me for healing.  The right hand hinge [joint] and ear were affected, with sensitivity over the whole right hand side of the cranium.

With interest, I found myself intuitively working with subtle, almost imperceptable movements around the affected ear and jaw. The sensation within me was magnified, so that it felt like there was a gentle, inexorable pressure being exerted through my hands with inward and forward movements, then rotated gently and released.  The process was repeated several times with a thythmical pulsing pattern of flowing movement, with my finger shifting into slightly different positions on each occasion.  At the end of about fifteen minutes, my fingers had covered about a three and a half inch radius around the ear and jaw.

At the end of the session, the movement in her jaw was easier, the earache and the neurologic pains, as well as a stiffness in her neck, had gone.

A letter from the grateful patient adds:  'When Kirsten put her hands on my head I felt a warm sensation and movement in my cranium plates and a sort of click when the muscle of my jaw was freed.'

Case History 2:  When calling to pick up essential oils at a school of aromatherapy in 1990 I was asked to see if I could help a woman who had just slipped a disc in the lower lumbar region.  She was lying face down on the massage couch when I saw her.

As I placed my hands on her back, I found myself wanting to rotate them very gently clockwise and anti-clockwise, also inwards and downwards before releasing.  Again the feeling was one of rhythmical pulsing movements with minute shifts in finger positions.  My fingers were each exerting different pressures at different times.

I then found my hands lifting off the body to a distance of about six inches, where the same movements continued.  My intuition told me that manipulation of the etheric body was occurring at this time.  After about fifteen minutes of this treatment, she was able to get up with little pain and return home.  She saw the osteopath the following afternoon but unfortunately I never heard the outcome.

I would like to hear from other healers/thearpists who might have similar experiences so that we could compare notes and perhaps have greater insights into what we are doing.

I was reading the Newsletter (No. 1) on my way home and was quite annoyed when the train reached Newton Abbot, as I had still some more to read.

In miscellaneous sharings I found it very interesting to read Geoff Freed can tell what is wrong with someone by the smell.  I experience this often when I have had little information about a patient and have no idea of their diagnosis.  I don't feel surprised when I do hear the diagnosis.

Re humour in healing:

When people come to see me because they are worried about their mental health and fear they may be mentally ill, and when I sense that this is not the case, I tell them about myself.  I say that I see people in hospital when at the same time I'm at home myself and peoples' grannies that have been dead and gone for years.  Then I ask, "Now who is going funny, you or me?"  I suggest that we should change seats.  This usually breaks the ice fast, reassures them instantly of their own sanity, and always makes them laugh.  Then I ask them if I seem worried about it and of course they say, "No."

Humour in bereavement is also useful, as I found when I received a communication from the deceased husband of 'Joan', my next door neighbour.  It was a cryptic comment on their sex life!  I agonised for a while over the communication and then went to see Joan, ostensibly for a chat.

At the appropriate (?) moment I told her of this communication.  She surprisedly acknowledged it was accurate and laughed till tears came in her eyes.  She explained that their inability to make love had been due to her husband's ill health.  They had spent the rest of the night together, laughing hysterically at their predicament.  (I was myself enormously relieved to receive this confirmation of the rightness of sharing this message.)  Joan said she had felt so depressed all day until I went to call with my message and her day ended on a high rather than a low.

To put the person before the practitioner is essential, stripping oneself of all status and prestige for the wellbeing of the person needing help.

I am pleased with the 'Poetry is Healing' section of the Newsletter.

As I grew up with hardly anyone around to help me understand the meaning and purpose of being 'gifted' I started something like a correspondence with my inner self, in English.  Thus have I been writing to solve questions and problems I ran into.  Beside that I love to read prose and poetry and do write reviews on subjects as healing and spirituality.

Since I'm officially practicing as a healer I found that beside humour, comforting words can be of great importance to those who seek our help, in addition to the direct healing given.  When working with patients I discuss with them on topics of living life, religion, love and relationship, life after death, and last but not least, our possible tasks on this planet earth.

My 'guides' help with questions I myself am busy with and also suggest quotations or texts from books I can recommend.  Often these are words which hit the target directly, producing relief and comfort.  The texts I prefer are short and simple.  They serve as support and help in crossing over certain difficulties.  I call them stepping stones in the rapids of life.

In my practice I'm often confronted with people struggling with religious teachings, beliefs and dogma.  The Bible is written in imagery and symbolic language that I find not easy to interpret, and difficult to discuss with healees.  The writings of Jacob Lorber, inspired by an inner voice, are helpful here.  His eleven volume 'Johannes das grosse Evangelium', each book of about 500 pages, is rather difficult to go through.  A small edition called, 'Bible Quotations and their Hidden Meaning' is very practical and offers many simple answers to complicated questions.

In poetry as well as in other texts written in love and understanding, healer and healee are able to find specific words or verses to be a next rung on the ladder of spiritual growth and understanding.

Not every healee or situation is suitable for this extra vehicle.  The healer him/herself should feel comfortable in using this modality.

I find that my inner guidance helps me to suggest particular readings.  I encourage healees to use their inner guidance, or intuition, as well.  I suggest that they just open the book and read the page their fingers guide them to.  It's remarkable to see that the page opened nearly always fits, or gives an answer to the confronting situation.

Although this is only a small addition to the healing practice it can be a great support, can soothe hurts, offer confidence, help healees feel they are not alone or 'untouchable, stimulate positive thinking and behaviour, support healing work by the 'spirit helpers', and more.
