Currently fanners are legally allowed to spray right up to Ihe open windou: of any occupied premises, whether it be a house, a school, a home for the elderly or any office or workplace. The RCEP report estimated the number of properties adjoining farmland at approximately half a million. Considering the distances pesticides are known to travel, this figure will be far higher if it includes all the homes, schools and other properties that might not be directly adjoining fields, but could still be contaminated by pesticide spray.
